A violinist, multi-instrumentalist and composer, Mirabelle Gilis evolves in a musical universe at the crossroads of classical, traditional music, pop and electronic sounds. Trained at the Toulouse Conservatory, then at the prestigious Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory in St Petersburg, she soon developed a sensitive, open approach to her instrument, combining classical rigor with creative freedom.
Based in Paris, she has collaborated with many major artists on the French and international scenes. She has accompanied Miossec, with whom she co-wrote several songs marked by an intimate and direct poetry, Jane Birkin, with whom she tours on stage, and the British group The Fernweh, in a more folk and psychedelic register.
A sonic explorer, she mixes the violin with other instruments (mandolin, keyboards, percussion) and doesn’t hesitate to integrate electronic effects and experimental textures. Her music oscillates between the bedroom and the journey, between gentle melancholy and rhythmic trance, carried by a deep, calm voice, often at the service of texts written in complicity with Miossec or Marcel Kanche.
In 2025, she becomes the violinist for Trans Cover Express, a project imagined by Nicolas Repac. This hybrid ensemble revisits repertoires from Mozart to Nirvana, from Vivaldi to Bashung, in a free dialogue between rock, classical music, chanson and electro. WithOlivier Koundouno (cello), Patrick Goraguer (drums)and Ludovic Joyeux (sounds), Mirabelle Gilis deploys her fine, expressive, inhabited playing, at once rooted in tradition and open to all manner of audacity.
An unclassifiable artist, Mirabelle Gilis pursues a deeply personal approach, combining writing, improvisation and the transmission of emotions.
